One of the questions that I always get asked is how do I protect my images online? In fact over on Skinny Artist we did series of articles that talked about several different ways to protect your images and how to keep people from stealing your stuff.
Watermarking your images is one of the easiest and most effective ways of protecting your images. Unfortunately, a lot of the watermarking methods out there rely on expensive and not-so-easy-to-learn software tools like Adobe Photoshop.
In this video, I talk about one of my favorite ways to watermark online images that’s incredibly easy and doesn’t require you to use an image program like Photoshop. In fact, there’s no software to install at all which is why it will work with both Windows and Mac. Once you see how it works, you’ll be able to watermark your images in less than a minute and have them ready to be posted on your WordPress website.

Thank you for this. I was visiting my MIL this summer and found that she had printed photos off of my Facebook page without permission and put them up in her house. I was really taken aback by this. Now, I know she’s Grandma, but not even my own mother does things like that without asking me first. Now, I’m going to water mark any photo that I post online.
Thanks Joanna for stopping by, I’m happy to hear that the video helped. You know when Grandma starts pirating images from the internet things might be getting out of hand
Good luck and let us know if the watermarking helps!
Just working on my first post on wordpress.org I watermarked all my images by just typing semi-transparent text over the images in Picassa as that is the program I use to crop and edit my photos anyway, but when I uploaded the images to wordpress the watermarks didn’t make it.
Searching for an answer to the problem led me to wordpress forum and there are several watermark plugins. Do you have any experience or opinion on using a wordpress plugin.
